Question by steph: Why were womens suffrage movements and conventions held mainly in new york?

many of the conventions and movements for womens suffrage was held in new york. is there a reason for that?

because the women who started the movement in 1848 were from new york and were the drivers and as such others came and devoted their lives to the cause and as such New York remained the forefront in the U.S.
EDIT could also have helped that New York was the largest city in the united states and would have the most impact coming from there.
