Sometimes, for reasons not clear even to me, I remove the "Bargain Book" price tag from the covers of my cheap gems, as I did with this one.

It's odd how publishing works, because a month or so after I bought this excellent history of Florida for .98, the paperback edition was highlighted...in the same book store, for .95 or thereabouts.

In any case, this was recommended to me by a customer. Written by Michael Grunwald, his journalist's background is evident in the well paced and clearly written text. History as it should be written: accessibly.

Makes driving through the Everglades a different experience, especially I-75.

Fornåsa flea market

The little town of Fornåsa outside my hometown has the biggest flea market I have seen. Several barns filled with stuff like this and the main building is huge.. 2 floors of second hand stuff, if it wasn't more. I was not even up on the second floor since it took so much time just checking out the first. They had a bunch of camera equipment, but not any bargains so I did not buy anything. It was freezing cold so it wasn't much fun to rummage through steel camera bodys :)

Bargain bin shopping at Rasputin! 8 CDs at .95 each + "but 3 get the 4th free" = .63 with tax. Score!
