Question by Cass: What is the whole babies in basket thing from the city of ember?

There were signs at the end of the movie that were telling the people who were entering the city of ember years ago to put the babies in the baskets provided. What is the importance/significance of that?

Just so they will not sink in the water? lol their is no significance, but i LOVE that book, but the movie destroyed the book! I love the WHOLE series!
